If you’ve been on my blog before, you probably know my love for black sesame. If you’re new here, there’s a good chance you’re confused by it because black sesame seeds are typically used as a garnish. To have it as a core flavor in sweet treats can be a bit confusing. But trust me – It’s seriously one of the most underrated flavors!
Black sesame is mainly prevalent in Asian treats, like rice cakes, mochi or ice cream, but sadly, hasn’t taken off yet in the states. The best way to describe the flavor is to think of brown sesame seeds but with ten times the flavor, resulting in a rich and sweet nutty taste. They’re simply amazing!!
Whether you’re new (welcome!) or a returning visitor (thank you for stopping by again!), you will love this simple and uncomplicated black sesame cashew cream. The best part is that you only need three simple ingredients: cashews, dates and black sesame seeds. The cashews create a creamy, luscious texture and the dates add a caramel-y sweetness, which pairs perfectly with the black sesame seeds.
Blend all the ingredients together to get this fluffy and nutty dessert that is also healthy and nutritious! Top with berries of your choice!

quick notes
- Cashews do not need to be soaked overnight since their shells have already been removed but I recommend soaking them for 8 hours or more to achieve a silky, smooth consistency.
- For photo purposes, I also soaked my dates for a few hours in hot water so they will completely dissolve but that step is optional.
